This artwork recognizes the earth’s geology and rock record as being an archive for this planet’s entire history. Fossil records, rock strata and ice sheets are all examples of phenomena that hold the stories of the earth within them. They tell us about climatic events, evolution, and the birth of this planet. Through extractive practices and climate change, parts of this rock record are being dislocated and transmuted from their original geology. Parts of this planet’s archive are being overwritten with a newly built geology of cut and cast stone.
