Jack Reloaded: material as memory

Through a material lead process my practice has interrogated the physical and material qualities of gunpowder. I have utilized it as both a tool for mark making and metalworking, exploring how explosives respond under different conditions. The resulting artworks are abstracted marks and forms often conjuring images akin to apocalyptic landscapes or celestial metaphors. It is as if there are latent narratives hidden in the gunpowder.
