Taking its name ‘dragline’ from the mechanical excavators that dredge the earth for its resources. The same technology of pulleys creates a scale, hanging in perfect balance a stone with the precious metal which it is mined for. The bronze counterweight is one quarter the weight of the stone and moves at a ratio of 4 to 1. The pulleys hold a mechanical advantage over the geology.
